Some time ago, we placed on YouTube our videos showing some places in our neighborhood that we like and wanted others to see. It appeared that people like our movies although they were made with our old camera JVC GR-DX307U - many left very nice comments. One of their favorites was a video tour through the downtown Los Angeles.

We are very pleased to announce that we have for you a new video tour through downtown LA. Not only that it was made with HD camera Canon VIXA HV30, but also it includes more streets in the very downtown, and we enter it from the other, more beautiful side. Also, thanks to YouTube, every movie can be longer now - fifteen minutes instead of ten, so we can show you more.

We created this website for you. Many California residents do not realize that visiting this beautiful state – not to mention living here – is a dream of many people around the world, including Americans living in other states. It was our dream, too. Born and raised in Poland before the fall of communism, we knew America mainly from western movies. There were not so many American movies on Polish TV under communism (with one, then later two channels only) showing more current pictures of America. How we imagined Californian streets were based on what we’ve seen on the series very popular in Poland in the 70’s – “The Streets of San Francisco”.
When in 1981, just two weeks before the martial law, we escaped from Poland to the refugee camp in Austria, for a very short period of time it was possible to choose the place in America where we would like to be sent. Keeping in mind the pictures of San Francisco streets from our favorite series, we wrote on the form: California. Well, it appeared that our destination was Los Angeles where we came after several months of waiting. We will never forget this special, very hard to describe feeling when all of the sudden we were placed right between palms, orange trees, banana trees and bird-of-paradise plants, on a full of sunshine Dickens Street in Sherman Oaks, one of the beautiful streets of California…
Now, almost thirty years later, our perception of the beauty of this state did not change. It is very common that when people take the same route day after day, they stop noticing its beauty. It does not apply to us. No matter if we see some place for the first time, or we’ve seen it hundreds of times before, we are equally excited. We can see something interesting or beautiful on every street. We would like to share with you our excitement. We would like you to feel for a moment as if you live here, by showing you our everyday life when you will be going with us to various places just as if you were living with us. You will have the opportunity to see not only places included in the standard tourist tours, but also places most tourists will never see.
We hope you will like the streets of California as much as we do. By the comments people leave seeing our movies on YouTube we know, that not only people who never were here enjoy them, but also those who lived here but for some reason had to move, or those who already did visit California, and now miss it. No matter what group you represent – welcome to our www.streetsofcalifornia.com site, and enjoy what you see!
